Introduction

Assam State Transport was started as a Government Department with 4 nos. of buses to run between Guwahati and Nagaon. Gradually the transport network of the department Expanded through out the state of Assam providing safe and reliable transport service to the people. The state transport department was converted to a corporation on 30th march, 1970 and Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) was borne with the objective of providing economical, safe, comfortable and reliable passenger transport service.
